While the beat and bass riff is good, I really think it needs some more interesting melodies and harmonies over the top, to stop it feeling quite so repetitive. Would be a good track with a bit more added to it :)

Sykozealot responds:

This is the 2nd time I have heard the "Oh it would be great if it was repetitive"... listen, I value your opinion that when things get too repetitive that it loses out on being great however...this song is a loop, it's supposed to be repetitive. If I didn't make the repetitive then it couldn't loop, my goal was to make sure that it would loop perfectly, thus my goal was to make it repetitive. I find success in what i have done, if you still think its "Too Repetitive" then fine but the song is a loop...I don't know what else to tell you ^^

Not even half-way through listening and I'm having to give this five stars. Brilliantly composed, and if I didn't know any better I'd think this was ripped straight from a movie soundtrack. If you aren't already composing film scores as a profession you need to start, you obviously have a knack for it :)

Step responds:

Wow, really high praise. Thanks a lot! I wish I had the talent and ability to score for film, but unfortunately it can't be - I take an inordinate amount of time composing music (which isn't a good thing in an area with such harsh deadlines like film-scoring), and I'm also half-deaf, which severely limits my ability to play around with stereo effects and panning.

Still, feedback like this is awesome to receive. Thanks again!

This track really sounds perfect for a tense boss battle. It's up-beat, epic, and varied enough to not sound repetitive. I can easily imagine this track being used in an epic fight somewhere in a game :)

bluebooblue responds:

Thank you so much sck8000!! I'm really glad you like it!

I love the way the melodies all blend together in this :) It's up-tempo and a little frantic, but not overpoweringly downbeat. All together, I think this is a pretty neat track. Not sure what I think of the slow-down in the middle, it kinda breaks the flow of things a little, and I'm not sure if it really works with a track like this P: Musically it's good, but if it were in a game it might sound a little jarring... I guess it depends on the theme of the game.

ikitty2 responds:

Thank you :) I agree that the slow-down part is a little off, and I'll probably change that if I ever come back to this song, maybe make it more gradual, or even just take it out, I'm not sure. And yeah, if it was in a game I would definitely need to change it somehow. Honestly, the main reason I didn't do something about it before I posted it was because I actually didn't like this song very much and it was kind of a disappointment to me when I had created it, and I kind of figured no one else would really care about it... But now I see that people actually liked this song and I really regret not trying to improve it instead of simply giving up on it.

You may have noted that I haven't posted any new songs recently and that's because I'm still working on properly mixing songs, and I have been for a while now. I'm currently working on two songs that will hopefully be a bit of an improvement from the ones posted here already. Once those are finished and uploaded, I will most likely come back to the ones here and fix them up, this song included. I can't really guarantee when, or even if I'll be fixing this song, nor can I tell you right now if I will simply edit it or remix it somehow, so sorry about that.

I'm glad you like the song and were willing to review it for me, so again, thank you! Also, sorry I didn't see the review until just now, two weeks after you wrote it; I really haven't checked for them recently :/

This. Is. Just. Brilliant.

I gotta say, that middle part reminds me of Soul Calibur quite a bit XD

It's a really nice track, I have to say, though I kinda prefer the original track on your old account imho.

Still good though :)

I was searching through the audio portal for some rather different music, for a game I'm developing, when I stumbled across this, but my god... This is truly a brilliant piece of work. I'm a big fan of anything reminiscent of the 8-bit era, and this is really an amazing track to listen to. You've conveyed a very upbeat and optimistic sounding track and I would gladly play a game for hours just for the music alone. Great job! :D

Great piece, really nicely composed and has a wonderful feel to it. :)
...It would also be almost perfect for some kind of menu music for this space game I'm working on. :D

I'm instantly getting a Soul Calibur feel from this... If I didn't know any better I'd probably think this was actually from one of the games. Great job! :D

My only nit-pick is that it's pretty short :P

F4LL0UT responds:

Thanks. I'm glad I managed to capture that style. I avoided listening to music from Soul Calibur for reference in order to avoid reproducing a certain piece "by accident", I just worked with the general idea I had of the music. I'm very happy that this approach worked. :)

And yeah, I agree, it is too short. I might expand it someday, though. The project I composed it for is done but who knows...

Nice! It's a great piece. My only slight niggle is that the vocals seem a little out of place in a song like that... The singing doesn't really sound very "punk" in my opinion. :P But it's really good!

Keegs responds:

Its not really Punk, anyway. More like Post-Rock/Alt-Rock. Also the mixing is awful xD I know exactly what you're saying.

Thanks for the review!
