I'm giving this thing a 3 because, well... It's Monty Python. The animation work, though is pretty rough, and a bit choppy. Drawing style gets you some bonus points, it's a nice look. Just smooth out the motions and give it a bit of colour would be my advice. :)

I haven't actually completed the game, but it seems like a good premise for something better... Though I have some rather major criticisms.
The first thing I would criticise is that the ghostly woman/girl you are supposed to follow isn't immediately obvious. I noticed them the first time, but didn't realise they had reappeared elsewhere, giving me a trail to follow. Just a simple speech bubble appearing saying "Follow me" or "Over here" would be a good start... Having them gradually move rather than teleporting would be good to, maybe leaving a ghostly trail behind them.
Second, navigation. More specifically, the entire game area looks very bland. I'm sure this was partly or maybe wholly intentional, given the dark atmosphere of the game, but it made finding my way around a complete nightmare. I don't have a great memory for geography, game world or real world, and there was only so much I could work out based on the pathways I could see.
Thirdly, enemies. The slimes are good an' all, and the splitting into smaller slimes and randomly dropping hearts is a good basis for combat. But that's just it. There's no real variation or challenge to them once you've figured it all out. The only way the fighting is a challenge is if you're badly swarmed.
Fourthly, after unlocking the ghostly female as a new character, I had no idea what to do next. I could see no new ghostly figure to follow, though I assumed there was another lurking somewhere since there are 3 character slots. After a little exploring, I found another heart-bar-stone thing, but no spectral figure to accompany it. I was at a complete loss for what to do next.
...At which point I got swarmed by slimes and died, and then began this review.

All in all, it seems like a good starting-point for a game, but not much of a game in itself.

Not even half-way through listening and I'm having to give this five stars. Brilliantly composed, and if I didn't know any better I'd think this was ripped straight from a movie soundtrack. If you aren't already composing film scores as a profession you need to start, you obviously have a knack for it :)

Step responds:

Wow, really high praise. Thanks a lot! I wish I had the talent and ability to score for film, but unfortunately it can't be - I take an inordinate amount of time composing music (which isn't a good thing in an area with such harsh deadlines like film-scoring), and I'm also half-deaf, which severely limits my ability to play around with stereo effects and panning.

Still, feedback like this is awesome to receive. Thanks again!

This track really sounds perfect for a tense boss battle. It's up-beat, epic, and varied enough to not sound repetitive. I can easily imagine this track being used in an epic fight somewhere in a game :)
